Buyers Guide Of Welding Fume Extractor

When welding any material in your factory, wearing just a helmet isn’t a wise choice. It is because wearing one may protect yourself from the harmful fume, but the air still stays deadly for any other individual, such as the factory staff or other operatives.

You need to make sure that the minimum air circulation in the area is 10 meters per second, and it is clear to see and hear everything through the air. Implanting a whole-plant system can be costly.

So to prevent the inhalation of welding fume, you need to get yourself a fume extractor. To give you an idea of how to buy a welding fume extractor of good quality, check the tips listed below.

Different Features and Portability

When going through different fume extractors, make sure that the one you go with has many features and is easy to operate other than just being a simple fume extractor. For starters, it should have multiple levels of filter to use on different levels of fume. It should be easy to switch the filters as well.

Aside from just removing the fume, it will be great if it can take out all the bad odors from the air. Another good feature is for the filters that can be removed and cleaned. Also, a spark deflector feature won’t be bad. A portable one should be your primary goal. Just make sure that it offers more than any regular extractor would do.

Durability and Longevity

It is a must to ensure that your fume extractor has enough durability to last a long time. Being used in a factory can easily put many dents and stuff on the machine. One with highly durable stainless steel built components will rid you of the hassle of buying a new one again and again and also will save your money in the process.  Not to mention, any durable stuff is welcomed when it comes to being used in a factory.

Changing of The filter

If you go for the MIG torch option (which is recommended, as they are the most effective by far), It will be a good thing if the filter does not need to be changed many times in an everyday environment. An ideal extractor may require changes every 15-20 reels of MIG wire consumed, so keep that in mind when choosing one.

Suiting the Environment

Not all fume extractors are suited in every type of work environment. For example, a light-duty fume extractor can easily be damaged. It happens when its filters are ripped through in a harsh environment.

Safe and Secure

When welding in your workplace, not only fumes but sparks are generated in the process as well. A fume protector that has the capability of deflecting sparks to protect the operators and other belongings from catching fire should be the one that you can look for. Make sure to extinguish the sparks before they reach the materials to be completely safe in your industry.
